Week 17 - The week before next week
Well this was a pretty solid week. Not quite as event packed as last week, because we are in serious rebuild the teaching pool mode, but at least that's all going well.
On Tuesday we had a really fun morning with some emergency divisions due to a danger in Barrio 6 of our stake (basically a mini street battle between the police and some drug traffickers). The missionaries from there came over to spend the morning with us (Barrio 7) and that was pretty fun. I got to see Elder Stewart a little more than normal, from my group in the MTC, and he is super funny. But to be super safe with the Spanish, I was with his comp for the morning, Elder Tholstrom, who is also super capo (awesome).
Later that day we were walking along the street and some lady who has algo como (something like) 21 years called out to us and asked to come and talk with her and her friends. So as we are walking around the fence Elder Hernandez and I are talking about how this is going to be really interesting, and it was. The first thing they say when we show up is to ask us what we thought about "Ley Trans Ya," which we knew nothing about, so we just started to teach anyway, and this lady was just mocking us like crazy. But at least she wants to marry me, so that made me feel good! Haha! But basically all of her friends were nuts also, but one was actually trying to listen. Eventually what happened was that, as the American, they were more interested in me, so I distracted them by charlando cualquier bolaso with ellas (chatting about whatever stuff with them) while Elder Hernandez singled out the one friend that was actually interested, and we got a new investigator out of it, so that was at least worth it.
We also had an experience with a lady finding us. She literally just walked up to us on the street and said that if we could help her stop smoking she'd get baptized, so obviously we took her up on the challenge and we'll be visiting her sometime this week.
Last piece of really exciting news is that Michelle is going to be able to go to the reunion (meeting) with the Prophet even though she's not a member! (President Russell M. Nelson is visiting Bryant's mission on Thursday). Hopefully that will help her in her decision to get baptized. She says she probably will get baptized she just wants to be a little more sure of her decision, but it's bien probable que ella va a bautizar el proximo mes (it's very likely that she will be baptized next month)! We are really excited!
Well we completed with the mission finding goal this week again with 7 new investigators. I just frankly don't have time for all the stories and just have to spoon out the highlight reel, but good things are rocking here. Just get ready for the Grand Slam next change if Elder Hernandez and I can keep finding like we are now.
Nos Vemos
Elder Martin
