Week 18 - The Week of the Prophet!
Can I just start with....... I shook hands with the Prophet this week... YEAH!!!!! Man the Spirit in the room when he walked in was intense, I thought my heart wasn't going to be able to take it. It was hilarious because he said my name in a Spanish accent like the people here do. (Marteen) But man, that was something I will never forget, and I also feel kind of bad that we didn't pay more attention to the fact that Elder Stevenson came too... but it was the prophet! But really I learned a lot from Elder Stevenson also, the entirety of the experience was just incredible! And Pres. Olsen also dropped casually that morning before we went to go meet the prophet that another Apostle was going to come in 2 weeks... so... that's just awesome. Benefits of being in one of the most successful missions of Suramerica Sur. (South America, South)
Our zone killed it with 17 baptisms this last change and we were the only zone where every companionship baptized someone.
Well, we keep on finding como locos (like crazy) with 9 more new investigators this week. A lot of these people have a lot more potential as well, they were asking questions, paid attention during the contacts, and we've already revisited some of them. We just need to start dropping baptismal dates a little more loosely, but yeah, we could be getting very wet next change.
Michelle is still doing really well, just still partially indecisive. The good thing is that in the end she was able to go to the conference with the prophet and she started like fan-girling with Elder Hernandez and I when we talked about how cool it was; she also knows he's a prophet now, we just need to get her a little more solid about the whole baptism thing, and it would help if her family would stop confusing her... but she'll get there eventually, we just need to work with her a little more.
Also, we are teaching Cristian, a 21 year old guy who is super capo. Luckily also he lives with an inactive member who believes all of it and is just kind of lazy. They're basically always home and this inactive member that lives with Cristian keeps telling him that he should get baptized and helps us with the teaching and everything so it's super convenient. He should reasonably get baptized this change as well - he doesn't have a problem with coming to church, he's already been once, we just need to animate him a little to make the attendances a little more consistent.
They are our 2 well-progressing investigators for right now, but la verdad (in truth) we have 4 others that are doing fairly well but we need a little more time to talk with them to see how they're feeling with everything and know a little better if they'll keep on progressing or not.
As for changes, Elder Hernandez is leaving for the city of Mercedes, area Las Alteras as a Zone Leader, which makes sense because he is a capo. My companion that is coming is named Elder Rojas. He's from Peru and he doesn't have much time in the mission either. Barrio 7 (my area) has always had people finishing the mission there so now Pres. is just throwing youth at it to see what happens I guess, I hope it works! Haha!
Well, that's all for now!
Nos vemos!
