Well as you all know, New Year is the best time to set goals no? Personally I want to focus on one thing only this year, and that is something that Pres. Olsen says a lot in our conferences with him: Less Words, More Spirit. It's a lot about simplifying the teaching, testifying more, making sure they feel the Spirit and then just get out. It's the Spirit that converts, and it really helps when if they're feeling the Spirit really strong and then you say a prayer and leave, the best part is when they notice the difference from after we leave. Our first step to improving in Less Words, More Spirit, is what Elder Linares calls the Volleyball of testimonies. When we teach, we teach something really short, then one of us will testify of a part of what we taught, the next will testify while expounding a little bit, and then we go back to the first of us who talked who bears testimony of the Savior in relation with the lesson that we taught as the "Spike."
Example: Lesson 1: Restoration
"Bump" - Testify that this is the church of Christ
"Set" - God calls Prophets and Christ directs his Church through them
"Spike" - Through the Prophets and the Restored Church, we can become closer to Christ and return to his presence.
(Just an example)
It's been working pretty well so far and we're super excited to continue.
Well for right now we've been working a little bit with the new people we've been finding, but most importantly, we're really stoked to be talking with Familia "R". They're a family of 5 that are FINALLY all listening to us. We've been finding them kind of at separated times but we finally set up 2 charlas
(discussions) with the entire family for the week and they've committed to come to church this Sunday, so we're just really excited and really hopeful that they can progress.
Other than that we're just working really hard to find more of the elect. We're teaching a lot, but we're not finding many people that are progressing much, so we're going to have to start leaving a few people we teach to free up some time to find people who will actually keep commitments, but yeah.
Other news A. and V. finally returned from Buenos Aires so now we can start teaching them again!
Other other news: Our mission acheived 853 baptisms in the year and we have the goal to beat it obviously. Starting with January we've got the goal of 95 baptisms in the mission, my zone Paysandu has the goal to get 6, which if family "R" progresses in time, we might just get almost all of those which would be awesome!
Well that's all for now! Nos vemos!
-Elder Martin
