Week 37 - The week where we are basically alone

So this week with changes was really interesting. Not for us - we just kept doing our thing - but for Elder Nelson and Elder Burt coming into Colon, which is the other city in Argentina in our district.  Well honestly they haven't really made it yet. Elder Burt doesn't have his ID yet so he can't leave the country for now because he is there illegally. Eventually Elder Nelson and Elder Huish (one of our Zone Leaders that knows Colon decently well) crossed over just to show the area to Elder Nelson, but until Elder Burt gets his cedula (identification card) they can't really work the way they need to... so that's an issue. For that reason we have not really talked to anyone else all week, we've just been doing our thing over here, and quite frankly, we had a really good week.

First of all, we did end up dropping D., he just said he's not ready to stop drinking alcohol yet. We did end on really friendly terms though and he said that if one day he could stop drinking he would definitely come back to our church and get baptized so that was really cool.

Well C. is still doing pretty good. Unfortunately she had to work during the church meeting this Sunday so she couldn't come and we moved her baptismal date to the 30th of March. Other than that she is still learning well, and even prays that she will make it to her baptism so that's always super awesome to hear.

K. didn't come to church either unfortunately. Their entire family didn't wake up because the Mom's alarm died so yeah... so he also has his baptismal date moved to April 6th and we will just keep trying with that.

Now for the clutch moment of the week! G. CAME TO CHURCH!!!! He also brought his girlfriend with him that we were 100% not expecting and they both really liked it and his girlfriend J. accepted a baptismal date in the chapel. Now they are both preparing for March 30th. G. just keeps on completing commitments even though we are like sometimes not thinking he`s going to because he doesn't sound super firm in his decision. Then he just does it! I love this guy!

This week I read Truth and the Plan by Pres. Oaks. I really liked it honestly. Super direct and I liked how he used the phrase that with the knowledge we have of God's true plan that we truly have to oppose certain things. Honestly though the part that really stuck out to me was a quote by Elder Holland that said, "In this church, what we know will always trump what we don;t know." That made me think about the simple truths we have knowledge of in the Gospel that can answer any question or doubt we may have.
1. God is our Heavenly Father and loves us. He will never allow anything, or ask anything, that will not be better for us than what we ourselves had in mind.
2. All things that are unfair in this life are made fair through the Atonement of Christ. He passed through it all and gave us the opportunity to return to our Heavenly Father because he also loves us perfectly and unconditionally.
3. Families can be together forever.
4. The Prophets of the scriptures, Joseph Smith, and all that followed are true prophets of God that reveal the will of God to us. Whether by the voice of God, or by his servants it is the same. (Return to number 1)
I testify that these things are true, and I also testify that knowing these things will always "trump what we don't know."

I love you guys! Nos vemos!

Elder Martin
