Week 43 - The First Week of Tranqueras

Well I guess I'll start by talking a bit about my new companion. So again his name is Elder Moreno and he is from Fortaleza, Brazil. That is in the upper NE corner of Brazil so he is still quite far from his house. He is the only member in his family and he is super impressive. He literally LOVES the mission.

My area is really good as far as I can see for now. It's honestly gotten a pretty bad rep from before I got here just because... well its a branch with about 10 active members and the only Priesthood holders are the Branch President and a young teacher named Leo. Other than that though its honestly fine, I heard people are not receptive here but I find that to be false from my half week that I've been here so yeah, for now I really like it.

For right now we don't have many people we're teaching that we could find this week but I do have one story real quick.

So we were contacting and we passed by a little family sitting outside on their lawn and as we got to the end of the street Elder Moreno and I both decided that we should go back and talk to that family. The woman, G., told us that her mom and sister are members and that they had tried to share the Gospel with her but she never wanted to hear anything; and then right after that asked us if we wanted to sit down and share our message with her... so obviously we said yes.
We had a really great charla with her and we told her to pray about Joseph Smith being called as a Prophet and to ask her family about it and see what they could tell her. We are super excited.

Other than that there isn't much else, I just want to share one scripture with you guys that I really liked this week. (2 Ne. 6:17)

But thus saith the Lord: Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered; for the Mighty God shall deliver his covenant people. For thus saith the Lord: I will contend with them that contendeth with thee—

We always hear about President Nelson talking about the importance of making and keeping sacred covenants and for that reason this stood out to me this week. I know that by making and keeping sacred covenants, and repenting of our mistakes always, the Lord will deliver us, whether the blessings come in this life or the life to come it doesn't matter, they´ll come.

Well that's all! Love you all!

Nos vemos!

-Elder Martin
