Week 48: The Week of Changes

Well, this week is changes week! Elder Moreno is off to Colonia, and I am going to receive an Elder named Elder Vega. He`s from Chile! I'm still on a weird streak of none of my companions being from the same country as each other so that`s cool! He has the same time in the mission as Elder Moreno, recently completed 5 months. I don`t know much about him though and neither does anyone in my zone currently, except for the fact that he might actually be taller than me... Not sure how I feel about that. Haha!

This week was a little rough in a couple of areas! C. that had accepted a baptismal date got a job in another department of Uruguay so we're not sure we're going to see him again. We also met a man named G. that we challenged to baptism in the first charla that we had with him, but when we went back later in the week he told us that his wife did not want us to pass by anymore. Finally J. L., that also accepted a baptismal date, did not come to church again, so he lost his baptismal date.

Nonetheless, there were still a number of good things from this week. First of all, we had a really good charla with S. this week about the Plan of Salvation, we especially reiterated the importance of baptism and she still seems willing to do it, just that we're still not sure if her husband is going to let her.

We also met a less active member this week, and she has accepted to come to church this Sunday and to bring as many family members as she can. She is the only member of the church in her family, but she really likes the church and really doesn't know why she left. We´re really hoping we're going to be able to teach her children and maybe her husband. She told us her husband isn't super religious, but we can still try.

We also had a really awesome fireside with the Stake President of Rivera and most of the members went with a large number of less active members. Here`s hoping we can start getting a little more movement in our tiny branch! Haha!

This Sunday I gave a talk in church about Testimony. I shared this scripture from Joseph Smith History that I have always loved!

"For I had seen a vision; I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it, neither dared I do it; at least I knew that by so doing I would offend God, and come under condemnation."

I also talked about one way we can deny the experiences and knowledge we have of the Gospel is by failing to share it. Bearing testimony is one of the most simple things we can do to invite the Spirit and help people understand the truthfulness of the Gospel!

I love you all! Nos vemos!
