Week 68 - The week where the struggle is real

Everyone knows that life has its ups and downs right? Well it's the same in the mission. Some weeks everything goes well, and others weeks... not as much. This was one of those weeks. We had 1 charla (discussion) with each of our 3 people that are progressing this week, but other than that we were contacting and visiting members. We were able to get a very decent number of potential investigators but none converted into new investigators this week, so we'll see what we can do this coming week.

With C., we talked a little bit about his baptism and how he's feeling, but it looks like he might be going back to Montevideo. He has to go back to vote for the Presidential elections here, and he's not sure when or if he's going to make it back to Colonia, so that kind of makes things difficult.   He also didn't come to church because he slept in, which is super unusual for C.; he's generally super set on coming to church.

With K., we talked very briefly about the Plan of Salvation but it started to rain and we have our charlas outside her house (because we can't go in) so we had to cut it short. We also managed to talk to her Mom real quick and she said that she'll support K. in the church and she's completely fine that she goes if she wants to, but she doesn't want to participate herself. That was a little sad, but luckily we have our Branch President that lives super close to them that can help us out with her a little more.

Finally with M., we had a really good charla with her and her parents. She still hasn't prayed yet and seems like she really just doesn't want to. She's super nervous about it for some reason, and her parents and Elder Niela and I can't really figure out why. We shared 2 Nephi 32:8-9 with them and we explained the importance of prayer linked a little more with the love of God and his desire to speak with his children. It seems like we made some progress and she seemed a little more open to the idea so we're hoping that her parents can help her out until the next charla so that we can make a little more progress with her. Nonetheless, we were expecting them at church on Sunday and they didn't show up and we're still not sure why.

I have lots of favorite scriptures, and the vast majority are in the Book of Mormon, but I'm going to share my favorite scripture (at least for now) in Doctrine and Covenants.

D&C 123:17
Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed.

If we do everything we can, give our maximum in our efforts to serve the Lord, and we do it cheerfully, we may see the salvation of God, whether it be for ourselves or for others, and we will see His hand in our lives. I know these things are true! I know our Savior lives, loves us, and will forgive our sins before the Father if we repent and strive to do all things that He has asked us to do.

I love you all! Nos vemos!
