Week 69 - The week of Baby Steps
This week luckily enough went a lot better than last week, nonetheless, still room for improvement, but that's fine. Sometimes all God expects from us is improvement.
First of all this week was super rainy so that was kind of annoying, but nevertheless we kept pushing and luckily enough, near the end of the week, it got much better.
We had a charla with K. this week! We taught her the Plan of Salvation because she's been asking a lot of questions recently we just haven't been able to really sit down and chat for a decent amount of time to be able to explain everything, just because it´s a little difficult to explain part of the Plan without the background information y'know. She also told us that she still wants to go to church and everything but that we can't stop by to walk with her anymore because we wake up her Mom and she doesn't like that that much so... yeah. That's fine anyway, we need to see if she can go by herself anyway. She didn't come this week, but we already have a charla planned with her for Tuesday so we're going to see what happened and see if we can focus a little more on her church attendance.
I also had divisons this week with Elder Roberts, one of my Zone Leaders. We had a really good day! We had the first charla with someone that showed up on their own to church in their ward last Sunday. Her name is Laura. She had come to church before and had just felt the need to go to church again. She had some questions about baptism so we talked about how baptism should be and everything but she was saying she didn't understand why she would have to be baptized again and that's why she had stopped going in the first place. They're planning on teaching the Restoration in the next charla to better explain the Priesthood authority to help her out with that doubt, so here's hoping.
Back in my area, Elder Niela and Elder Evans found a lady named F. She seemed super open and has interest in religion. Before she didn't believe in God but is looking for a church now to be able to help her increase that belief that she's beginning to have. We stopped by again on Friday and she wasn't there so we're going to try and find her again during the week.
We also had a good but simple charla with Familia C. on Friday. The Hermano (dad) wasn't there but we had our Elders Quorum President with us, Cristian Diaz, so we were able to go in. We just talked about the importance of reading the Book of Mormon and we showed them the first Book of Mormon video. They're so good! I've really enjoyed their progress! When we found them only the Hermano was reading the Book of Mormon consistently, but now all of them except J. are reading. Because of the work schedules of the 2 parents it's difficult for them to come to church, but we're hoping to be able to work with J. a little more so she can start coming without her Mom and bring M. with her!
We also had entrevistas (interviews) with our Mission President this week! It was super awesome! It's always incredible the Spirit that I feel while being in the same room as him, it is absolutely impossible to deny the fact that he loves each of his missionaries a TON and that he really is called to help us have success in the work.
This week I loved the Scripture that Hno. Cristian shared in his talk yesterday.(3 Nephi 19:28-29)
28 Father, I thank thee that thou hast purified those whom I have chosen, because of their faith, and I pray for them, and also for them who shall believe on their words, that they may be purified in me, through faith on their words, even as they are purified in me.
29 Father, I pray not for the world, but for those whom thou hast given me out of the world, because of their faith, that they may be purified in me, that I may be in them as thou, Father, art in me, that we may be one, that I may be glorified in them.
We are called to be not of the world while being in the world. If we become purified in Christ then we can help others to come to know Him better.
"You can't bring someone to Christ if you aren't with Him." -Elder Niela
I know that our Savior lives. I love him and am grateful for this grand opportunity I have to serve Him!
I love you all! Nos vemos!
