Week 80 - The Week where the Holidays are finally over!
Now, don't get me wrong from the title, I love the Holidays and all, but it makes it very hard to work in all honesty. I'm really glad that things have calmed down and I'm able to keep up with business as usual.
I already wrote last Wednesday so I don't have as much to write about, but there were still a number of things that happened in this last part of the week.
I'd say that over all, the best thing that happened this week was that we visited C. for a little bit every day this week (except yesterday) and that on Saturday she passed her interview, it was super awesome. When we did the practice interview with her it was so amazing. The problem being though that she didn't come to church, and we couldn't find her all day yesterday. She's been having some family complications recently and so we're thinking that something happened with that, so we're a little worried about her but hoping that everything will turn out alright. Sometime this week we're going to move her fecha to the 25th of January.
We found a less active member, named G., that is super cool this week. She recently moved from the other branch in Colonia but hasn't gone to church in awhile. Nonetheless, she does still have a testimony and she would like to go to church again. She also has a granddaughter, M., who is 14 years old and liked going to church before also, but she's not baptized, so the idea is that this week we ́re going to start teaching her with her grandma and get them to come to church! :)
The last little thing that was cool from this week is that we were finally able to get in contact with Familia C. again! It was a quick conversation that we had with Hna. V., but we set up a Family Night for this Wednesday and I am so excited!
This week I've been studying something that I found really interesting. I did a pretty in depth study on one quote by President Nelson that I'm not going to remember word for word, but he said something like "In the coming days, it will be impossible to survive spiritually unless we learn to receive revelation." What I found out this meant was that he was speaking very literally when he said it.
In the Bible Dictionary it says that revelation is necessary in order to inherit eternal life. That is true because achieving eternal life depends completely upon how much we have learned and progressed in this life in becoming more godlike, and anything spiritual that we learn can only be learned by revelation.
Then I realized that "not surviving spiritually" could also be said as "dying spiritually." The spiritual death is being separated from the presence of God. We are already in that state because of the Fall, but we can return to his presence, but if not, we suffer the second spiritual death.
Therefore, we need to receive revelation, in order to learn and progress, which will qualify us for the Celestial Kingdom. If not, we literally die spiritually.
I invite you all to always read the scriptures with the intent of receiving revelation, in a spirit of prayer, so that you may be guided in your earth experiences.
I love you all! Nos vemos!
-Elder Martin
I'm pretty sure this is the quote Bryant is referring to, from Pres. Nelson's talk in April 2018.
".....in coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost.
My beloved brothers and sisters, I plead with you to increase your spiritual capacity to receive revelation."
Caroling in the park with some members from the Branch!
This is a "pizza" that Bryant loves - it has a hamburger patty, fried egg,
cheese, and lots of sauces, as he describes it. Sounds interesting!
Hanging out with the APs
Family night with the Hermanas and some members
Bryant with his new companion Elder Prado (such serious faces!! Ha ha )
And yes, they do wear these hats when they are out proselyting
to protect themselves from the sun (its the middle of summer there!)
