Week 88 - The Week of Interviews
Hello everyone! This week we had some cool experiences!
On Tuesday we got the chance to do divisions with the Elders in Chico 2 (Elders Harris and McDonald) and it was really good. I was in Chico 2 with Elder McDonald, who is a fairly new missionary. He has about 6 months in the mission right now. I was very impressed by his confidence and desires to share the gospel. He gave it his all to talk to as many people as possible and we even found one lady that was super nice and receptive that they are teaching now!
On Wednesday we had a really cool experience! It is incredible how the Lord can use us as instruments to be able to bless the lives of others. On Wednesday afternoon everything was falling through left and right and we were basically gearing up to go contact for hours, but partway through we started talking about other things that we could do. I then remembered back to my first Sunday in the area when the Stake President talked to us about a couple of brethren that he wanted us to help so that they could possibly receive the Melchizedek Priesthood. We went and tried to find one of them and his father at an elderly care center and we found him. He didn't want anything to do with us, but he called over the other member who is active that lives there and we had a short visit with him. He told us lots of struggles he's been having recently and told us that we were sent from God. He then asked us for a blessing of health because he wasn't doing so well, and he said in Church yesterday that he's been feeling a lot better since then. It was really cool to see how the Lord can use us in the very moment that we are needed.
On Thursday we spent almost our entire weekly planning session trying to organize the schedule for our missionaries to have interviews with President. We had a number of those interviews go on Thursday night, and while that was going on we had an awesome family night with the G. Family. We shared the entire Restoration lesson with them to help them with their preparations for the April General Conference (which is in only a month and I'm getting really stoked!!!!) Afterwards they gave us pizza and Sister G. made us a coconut cake!! It was so good!
Then on Friday we had the rest of interviews with President. One of the few things I talked about with President Dunford was my testimony of the Book of Mormon. I feel really lucky to have a testimony of the Book of Mormon! It really is incredible! It has helped me understand the Doctrines of the Gospel in such a way that I cannot possibly deny the truthfulness of the Gospel and of the Restored Church. The Book of Mormon has a power and ability to convert that is incomparable.
Well, that´s pretty much it for this week.
I love you all! Nos vemos!
-Elder Martin
